Telescopic Steering Column Upper Assembly Instructions

This step-by-step procedure shows you how to reassemble the telescopic portion of a GM tilt-telescopic steering column. The 18 individual steps begin after the turn signal switch is installed and take through the horn plate, locking telescopic portion and steering wheel assembly right up to snapping on the horn button. Although there are 3 different telescopic design during these years, this procedure gives you enough informtaion to assemble any of them properly. The example used is a 1981 Chevrolet Corvette

Tools Needed: Lock plate spring compressor w/ telescopic adapter, 13/16 socket & ratchet, phillips screwdriver, snap ring pliers.
