This shift pivot assembly bolts directly to the side of the steeing column. The shift lever attaches to it. Often the spring inside this mechanism breaks causing the shift lever to become free and sloppy. The spring and internal parts are not available individually. The shifter assembly replacement is required. This assembly fits the following vehicles with column shift automatic transmissions:
